FAQ – ‘Engine Temp Rise’ Indicator on Display Screen

One of the most frequently asked questions during an equipment rental is what does it mean when my Kubota mini excavator or skid steer says ‘Engine Temp Rise’ on the display screen? Do I stop, do I continue working, do I need to notify Patriot Rentals?

The Kubota Regen process is the process of burning off (oxidizing) the accumulated soot from the filter to keep the machine running at peak performance. This occurs automatically on the machines approximately every 60 hrs. When this regen process begins, you will see an Engine RPM indicator light start flashing. *It is important to make sure that you keep working through it (or you can leave the machine idle while running) AND during this process make sure to increase the engine RPMs. When the Regeneration conditions are satisfied, the indicator stops flashing and remains “ON”. The regeneration will begin automatically whether the tractor is in motion or stationary. When the Regeneration cycle is complete, which should take about 20min or so, the indicator light turns off. Note: Do not lower the RPMs or turn off the machine during the regen cycle otherwise it will be interrupted during this regeneration and you will have to start over.
